News Topical, Digital Desk : Three criminals who robbed a bullion trader in the Gwaltoli police station area on April 1st were arrested in an encounter by the Colonelganj police station late Thursday night. Two criminals were shot in the leg and captured, while one was chased and caught. Police identified the robbers using CCTV footage and arrested them in a shootout. All three will be sent to jail after being produced in court.

Colonelganj Police Station in-charge Inspector Vineet Kumar Chaudhary said that on the night of April 1st, bike-borne robbers robbed bullion trader Ramu Kesarwani near the Lal Imli intersection in the Gwaltoli police station area. The bullion trader owns a shop in the Beconganj market. He was heading home after closing his shop late at night. Three robbers on a bike carried out the robbery at gunpoint.

During the investigation, Colonelganj police identified the three criminals through CCTV footage. Late Thursday night, the robbers were planning to commit another robbery when the police surrounded them near Lal Imli. On seeing the police, all three opened fire on the police force. In the retaliatory action that followed, two criminals were shot in the leg, while the third one was chased and caught. During interrogation, the two robbers who were shot in the leg, told their names as Sarika Hussain, resident of Gammu Khan's Hata, and Kamran, resident of Chamanganj Ajmeri Chowraha.

Kamran is originally from Sarvodaya village in Fatehpur Lalauli. The third robber, Shahid Afridi, was captured by police after a chase. During interrogation, all three confessed to the robbery. A pistol, cartridges, and over one lakh rupees in looted money were recovered from them. Police admitted Sariq Hussain and Kamran to Ursula Hospital for first aid.

DCP Central Atul Kumar Srivastava said that the Colonelganj police station arrested three robbers who robbed a bullion trader in an encounter. All three will be produced in court this afternoon and sent to jail.
