The government has deposited the interest rate of 8.25 percent in 96.51 percent Employees Provident Fund (EPF) accounts for the financial year 2024-25 before the scheduled time. The government had fixed the interest rate of 8.25 percent for the current financial year on May 22, 2025. The process of depositing interest has accelerated as compared to earlier. Whereas in earlier years, PF interest was deposited in the account between August and December. Whereas, this time this process had started in June itself.
Money sent to the accounts of crores of subscribers
According to Union Labor Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) will complete the work of depositing the remaining amount by the end of this week, which will benefit crores of employees across the country. This means that if you are a working professional and have a PF account, your latest interest installment may have already been deposited or will be deposited soon.
He said, "This year, annual accounts were to be updated for 13.88 lakh companies with 33.56 crore accounts for the financial year 2025, out of which interest money at the rate of 8.25 percent has been deposited in 32.39 crore accounts of 13.86 lakh companies till July 8. That is, the work of updating annual accounts has been completed for 99.9 percent companies and 96.51 percent employees.
How to check balance?
Go to the EPFO portal and click on the 'For Employees' category in the 'Our Service' section. Now after selecting Member Passbook, login by entering your UAN number and password. The balance will be displayed on the screen.
There is another easy way to check the balance. Type EPFOHO UAN from your registered mobile number and send it to 7738299899. You will be informed about the PF balance through SMS.
Another way is that you first download UMANG App. Select All Services and check the passbook, you will know the balance.
Call 9966044425 from your registered mobile number. After two rings, your call will be disconnected automatically. You will be informed about your PF balance within minutes. There will be no charge for this call.
