Q2 Net Profit Soars 206%, Assam Plant Powers Expansion, Debt Shrinks

Shares of ceramic and surface solutions major Varmora Granito Limited are set to draw sharp institutional attention following the company’s comprehensive regulatory filing on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, which detailed key financial results and strategic milestones for the second quarter and first half of FY27 ahead of an analyst conference scheduled for October 23. Having made its public debut on Indian exchanges on September 29, 2026, the Morbi-headquartered manufacturer—commanding a market capitalization of roughly ₹3,060 crore with shares closing near ₹135 on Monday—outlined a notable turnaround in operating momentum. The business performance was spearheaded by aggressive margin expansion in high-value vitrified surfaces, fresh production footprints in Northeast India, and rapid balance sheet deleveraging, establishing a robust operational trajectory after early-year supply chain disruptions.

Q2 FY27 Rebound: Net Profit Spikes 206% as Operating Margins Expand to 17%

The company’s second-quarter performance registered a sharp recovery in operating profitability, driven by better product realization and operational efficiencies across its Gujarat manufacturing clusters. Operating revenue for the July-September 2026 quarter grew 9 percent year-on-year to ₹399 crore, while Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) surged 19 percent to ₹68.3 crore. Most notably, net profit jumped 206 percent to ₹44 crore, compared to the corresponding period last fiscal. On a sequential basis, revenue advanced 27 percent over Q1 FY27, while operating EBITDA margins expanded substantially from 10.3 percent to 17 percent, demonstrating the company’s operating leverage as production volumes normalized following temporary energy supply bottlenecks in April.

Strategic Pivot to Premium GVT and Foothold in Northeast India via Assam Plant

Underpinning Varmora Granito's top-line quality is a deliberate portfolio shift away from commodity ceramics toward high-margin Glazed Vitrified Tiles (GVT) and technical surface solutions. In the first half of FY27, revenue from GVT rose 9 percent year-on-year to ₹550.7 crore, with GVT and technical products collectively generating 87 percent of total corporate sales. In Q2 alone, GVT revenues advanced 12 percent, representing 84 percent of quarterly turnover. Alongside this premiumization push, the company has decommissioned basic ceramic tile production at its Solaris unit to retool and upgrade the facility for high-end technical products. Concurrently, Varmora commenced commercial production and despatches at its Allemby Ceramics unit in Tezpur, Assam, establishing Northeast India’s first large-scale tile manufacturing base to capture distribution across Eastern India. Holding an approximate 50 percent equity stake as of September 2026, the company plans to acquire an additional 1 percent stake this fiscal year to consolidate management control.

Balance Sheet Deleveraging: Total Debt Contracts to ₹309 Crore Amid Net-Cash Strength

For the combined first half (H1 FY27), consolidated revenue grew 3.3 percent to ₹714.2 crore, dampened slightly by the strategic divestment of its subsidiary Simola—which impacted the top line by approximately ₹52 crore—as well as elevated ocean freight rates and container shortages that weighed on export dispatches. However, domestic market demand remained robust, expanding 9 percent to ₹589.7 crore, propelling H1 EBITDA up 17 percent to ₹101.3 crore and driving net profit up nearly fivefold to ₹53.7 crore. Crucially, the company strengthened its financial foundation by paring total debt from ₹357.9 crore in March 2026 down to ₹309.1 crore by September 2026. Supported by disciplined working capital management and IPO inflows, the net debt-to-EBITDA ratio improved to negative 0.6 times, placing Varmora Granito in a strong net-cash surplus position capable of funding ongoing plant retrofits without stressing leverage ratios.
