News Topical, Digital Desk : The Bharatiya Janata Party has released its first list of candidates for the Bihar Assembly elections. The first list announces candidates for 38 seats in the first phase and 33 seats in the second phase. While some of the names mentioned above are surprising, others that were rumored to be contesting the elections are missing.

Two former MPs have also been included in this BJP list. The BJP has fielded Ramkripal Yadav and Sunil Kumar Pintu from Danapur. Prem Kumar, over 70, has secured a ticket from Gaya. Two leaders who lost the Lok Sabha elections have been nominated for the Assembly elections. Mithilesh Tiwari, the Lok Sabha candidate from Buxar, has been given a ticket from Baikunthpur, and Ramkripal Yadav, the Lok Sabha candidate from Pataliputra, has been given a ticket from Danapur. The list of 71 names includes nine women, five Scheduled Caste and one Scheduled Tribe candidates.

  1. Nand Kishore Yadav's ticket has been cancelled. Ratnesh Kushwaha has got the ticket from Patna Sahib.
  2. It was believed that the BJP would field Ram Kripal Yadav's son as its candidate in this election, but that did not happen. The BJP has fielded Yadav from Danapur.
  3. Anil Singh is contesting from Hisua, a seat that was rumored to go to the Lok Janshakti Party.
  4. MLC and Health Minister Mangal Pandey was made the candidate from Siwan.
  5. Minister Motilal Prasad's ticket from Riga has been cancelled. Baidyanath Prasad has been nominated in his place.
  6. Haribhushan Thakur has been made the candidate from Bachhaul assembly seat.
  7. Samrat Chaudhary has been nominated for the Tarapur seat. Until now, the JDU MLA was Rajiv Kumar Singh.
  8. Former JD(U) MP Sunil Pintu has returned home to the BJP and has been nominated from Sitamarhi.
  9. BJP's Arun Prasad contested from Khajauli. There was talk of this seat going to Upendra Kushwaha's RLM.
  10. There are 9 women candidates in this list. 
  11. Sanjay Tiger has been nominated from Ara. Senior MLA Amarendra Pratap Singh's ticket has been cancelled.
  12. Sanjay Singh is the candidate from Lalganj. There was talk of Chirag Paswan winning the seat.
  13. Former Deputy CM Renu Devi is contesting from Bettiah, former Deputy CM Tarkeshwar from Katihar and Deputy CM Vijay Sinha from Lakhisarai.
