News Topical, Digital Desk : Chhattisgarh News: The Chhattisgarh government has decided to rationalize about ten thousand schools in the state. Due to this decision of the government, the posts of about 43 thousand teachers in the state are on the verge of ending. In protest against the decision, thousands of teachers from across the state tried to surround the ministry on Wednesday (May 28). During this, there was a scuffle between the police and the agitating teachers.
The protesting teachers first held a public meeting against the government's decision in Toota of Nava Raipur, the capital. After the meeting, thousands of teachers came out to surround the ministry. During this, the teachers kept raising slogans against the government. The teachers say that this decision of the government is an attempt to play with the quality of education and weaken the government schools. The protesters said that this will destroy the quality of education in government schools. After the decision, a teacher will have to take at least 9 periods in a day, which is not possible.
Teachers came out to surround the ministry, police stopped them.
In protest against the government order, around 10,000 teachers associated with 23 teacher organisations from across the state reached the capital Raipur on Wednesday. From here all the teachers came out to surround the ministry, but on the way, a heavy police force stopped the teachers from going to the ministry through 3 layers of barricading. Due to which the angry teachers broke the first layer of security also and started moving ahead. Meanwhile, the debate between the leaders of the teacher organisation and the administrative officials also continued. After this, it was decided that a delegation of teachers would meet the secretary of the education department and place their demands.
Teachers warned the government.
The protesting teachers have warned the government that if the government does not immediately withdraw its decision, then all the teachers across the state will boycott the academic session starting from June 15. Along with this, the teachers have also warned the government of sitting on a state-wide indefinite strike. The teachers have termed the rationalization decision as a dictatorial decision imposed forcefully.
What is rationalization?
Rationalization is a government term. If we understand it in simple language, it means merging two units together under one system. Similarly, the government is working on merging schools without children and schools without teachers, so that the problem of less children and less teachers can be solved. Along with this, resources can also be used properly.
Anger among teachers
Rationalization is a process in which the government or a private company uses surplus or excess employees to engage them in other works, increase workload or lay off employees. This is the reason why teachers across the state are opposing rationalization. If the government's order is implemented, then about 43 thousand teachers of the state will be included in the surplus category. And their jobs will be in danger.
'BJP had promised recruitment'
The protesting teachers say that in the last assembly elections, BJP had promised in its manifesto that if their government is formed in the state, they will recruit 52000 teachers in Chhattisgarh. Along with this, their government will also open new schools. But now the government is preparing to remove teachers by giving rational reasons.
Statewide agitation will start from 31 May.
Teachers say that if the Chhattisgarh government does not consider their demands and withdraw the rationalization order, then agitation will start in the entire state from 31 May. In the capital Raipur too, teachers of the state will go on indefinite strike. Along with this, teachers are also boycotting the academic session starting from 15 June in Chhattisgarh.
