
Gujarat Accident Case: A taxi driver died after being allegedly beaten up by a mob in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Police said the incident took place in Juhapura area on Tuesday (15 April) night. The driver was suspected to be drunk, due to which his vehicle caused several accidents.
Police said that five to six people have been detained in the murder case. However, it is not yet clear whether the driver died due to being beaten by the mob or due to some other reason. He said that the post-mortem report is being awaited to confirm the actual cause of death.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 7) Shivam Verma said that the deceased Kaushik Chauhan (35) was driving the taxi carelessly, due to which his taxi collided with several vehicles on the way. He said that after his taxi caused several accidents, some people started chasing him and caught him in Juhapura. Juhapura is an area dominated by the minority community.
The police officer said that they had received information that a taxi driver was driving drunk and he hit several vehicles on the way. He said that after these incidents, the people around ran after him and managed to catch him in Juhapura area of Ahmedabad and there he had a scuffle with them. After this the police found him dead.
The body was found near the bonnet of the car
An officer of the Vejalpur police station said that the body was found near the bonnet of the car around 9 pm on Tuesday night and was later taken to the hospital for post-mortem. Verma said that a case has been registered and five-six people have been detained. He said that the incident is being investigated.
Vejalpur inspector Ranjit Singh Chauhan said the police were waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain the actual cause of the man's death. "As of now, we cannot say for sure whether he was killed by the mob. We are checking the CCTV footage and have called some people seen in the footage for questioning," he said.
