News Topical, Digital Desk : Police in Faridabad, Haryana, are searching for a youth accused of shooting a 17-year-old girl in broad daylight, police said on Tuesday. The youth shot the girl in Shyam Colony on Monday and fled on a motorcycle. The girl suffered injuries to her shoulder and stomach.

CCTV footage shows the young man waiting for the girl in an alley and shooting her at close range. According to police, one bullet grazed her shoulder, while the other grazed her abdomen.

A Faridabad police spokesperson said the attacker is reportedly known to the girl and four teams have been formed to search for him. The victim, identified as Kanishka, is in stable condition and receiving treatment at a hospital.

Kanishka was returning from the library with a friend when she was attacked, the official said. The gun used in the crime was recovered from the scene.

When did Faridabad Police come to know about the incident?

A police spokesperson said, "Preliminary investigations indicate that the accused is known to the victim. The girl identified the accused, who attended the same coaching center as her. We have filed an FIR. The police and crime branch are searching for the accused."

A police officer said, "We were informed of the incident around 5:30 pm yesterday. We arrived at the scene and took the girl to the hospital. Her condition is now stable. Her statement has been recorded and an FIR has been filed. She was returning home from the library when she was shot. A boy she knew is involved in this incident."
