News Topical, Digital Desk : Seven members of a family travelling in a car were killed on the spot when a large gravel-laden truck (dumper) overturned on them in the Gagalheri police station area of ​​Saharanpur district in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, a police official said.

Superintendent of Police (City) Vyom Bindal told PTI that the accident occurred in Syed Majra village, under the Gagalhedi police station area, when a gravel-laden truck overturned on a car, killing seven members of the same family on the spot. Bindal said post-mortems are being conducted on the bodies. The truck driver has since fled, and police have filed an FIR and are carrying out rescue operations with the help of a JCB.

A police officer stated that the truck lost control and fell onto a car passing by, crushing the car. The entire family was crushed by the weight of the truck's gravel. According to police, Sandeep, who was traveling with his family to Gangoh to visit relatives, was struck by the accident before they could reach the spot. Upon learning of the incident, villagers from nearby areas gathered, and traffic was completely blocked.

After several hours of effort, the dumper and gravel were removed using a JCB and crane. A cutter machine was used to pull out the bodies trapped in the car. The deceased were identified as Sandeep Kumar (24), his sister Jolie (27), brother-in-law Shekhar (28), Sandeep's mother Rani Devi (62), Sandeep's cousin Vipin (20), and another relative, Raju Seni (27). The deceased also included a child. Bindal said further legal action was being taken in the case.
