Ravana has been one of the important characters of Ramayana. Ravana may have been a very powerful and knowledgeable person, but still he had to face defeat in the end due to supporting Adharma. Mandodari was Ravana's wife, who was the daughter of Demon King Mayasura. Mandodari was given as much respect as Goddess Ahalya as a devoted wife. But even after this, Mandodari had to marry again after Ravana's death.
Mandodari gave this advice
Mandodari knew that the result of Sita's abduction would not be good. That is why she advised Ravana that he should apologize to Lord Rama for his mistake and return Mother Sita with respect. So that Lanka and its people could be saved from the destruction caused by this. But due to his stubbornness, Ravana did not listen to Mandodari. If he had accepted Mandodari's advice, then the condition of golden Lanka would not have been like this.
Ravana had said this
Before going to war, Ravana had told Mandodari that if Ram is an ordinary man, he will be defeated by me. And if he is God, then I will get as much fame for killing me (Ravana) as he will. Also, people will remember me for ages. Hearing this from Ravana, Mandodari's eyes started to tear up.
What happened to Mandodari after her death
In the war, Ravana was killed by Lord Shri Ram . During Ravana's death, Mandodari's words were something like this - 'You who destroyed many yagyas, you who broke the religion, you who kidnapped the daughters of gods, demons and humans, today you have died because of these deeds of yours'.
After Ravana's death, Lord Rama proposed the marriage of Mandodari and Vibhishan, but Mandodari refused it. Lord Shri Ram, Mother Sita and Hanuman Ji explained a lot to Mandodari. After which Mandodari realized that this marriage would not be wrong from religious, logical and moral point of view. Then Mandodari agreed to marry Vibhishan.
