The weather has started to change since the past few days. The winter season has knocked and the winter season has arrived with mild cold. Often with the changing weather, the risk of many types of diseases and infections also increases. In such a situation, it often becomes difficult to identify many diseases that look similar. Pneumonia is one of these, its cases have been increasing rapidly for some time. However, many people ignore it thinking it to be a common cold, which can have serious consequences.
It is becoming very difficult for common people to identify walking pneumonia, due to which people's problems are increasing a lot. In such a situation, Dr. Kuldeep Kumar Grover, Head of Critical Care and Pulmonology at CK Birla Hospital, Gurgaon, is explaining what walking pneumonia is and how it is different from common cold.
What is walking pneumonia?
Doctors say that walking pneumonia is a mild form of pneumonia, in which the lungs get infected due to bacteria, virus or fungus. Usually pneumonia is quite serious and due to this the sufferer often needs to rest, but on the contrary, walking pneumonia is very mild and the person suffering from it can do his daily work without any problem.
Causes and symptoms of walking pneumonia
The most common cause of walking pneumonia is the bacterial microplasma pneumonia, which causes symptoms such as fatigue, sore throat, dry cough and mild fever. These symptoms can usually last for several weeks and often gradually worsen, which makes it different from the common cold.
How to identify common cold?
Common cold is a viral infection that primarily affects the nose and throat. The most common symptoms of common cold include runny nose, sneezing, nasal congestion, etc. and these symptoms usually subside within a week. Unlike walking pneumonia, the common cold does not usually affect the lungs and does not cause long-term fatigue. Common cold gets cured quickly with the help of rest and proper hydration.
