Haridwar News: The administration's campaign against illegal encroachment on government land in Uttarakhand has intensified. Under this campaign, the administration demolished the mazaar built illegally on the land of the irrigation department in Rajpur village of Bahadarabad area of Haridwar district. The mazaar built on this land of Tehri Dam Project Punarnivas Mandal Rishikesh Irrigation Department was removed under the leadership of SDM Ajayveer Singh amid heavy security.
This Mazar built in Rajpur was in controversy for a long time because it was built on government land without permission. This land belongs to the irrigation department, where illegal encroachment was going on for many years. The land was illegally occupied in the name of the Mazar, against which the administration took strict action and ran a bulldozer. Apart from SDM Ajayveer Singh, police and revenue department officials were also involved in this action.
Strict message of Chief Minister Dhami
State Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while supporting this action, said that the government is strict against illegal encroachment and illegal construction done on government land in the name of any religion or community will not be tolerated. The Chief Minister clarified that the government's policy is clear, no matter which religion has illegal construction, it will be removed. He said that maintaining the sanctity of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand is the priority of the government and the campaign against encroachment will continue in the state.
The problem of illegal occupation of government land in Rajpur and other areas of Haridwar is increasing continuously. Especially many religious structures have been built illegally on the lands of Irrigation Department, Forest Department and Tehri Dam Project Punarniwas Mandal Rishikesh. In a survey conducted by the administration, it was found that hundreds of people have illegally occupied these lands, in which religious structures are also being used.
Following the instructions of the Supreme Court,
the Dhami government has taken this action following the instructions of the Supreme Court of 2009 and 2019. The Supreme Court had clarified that no new religious structure of any kind can be built on government land. Under this, the illegal mazar has been removed. The state government has also warned that those who are doing illegal construction on government land will have to vacate soon, otherwise strict action will be taken by the administration.
Chief Minister Dhami has directed all the District Magistrates to take action against illegal encroachment without any political pressure. The government has made it clear that strict action will be taken against illegal occupants and government land will be freed from encroachment from every part of the state.
Strict provisions in the law
Dhami government has prepared to take even stricter steps against illegal encroachment. The cabinet has approved an ordinance, under which a case will be registered under the IPC against those who encroach on government and private lands and a provision has been made for punishment up to 10 years for the culprits. Although there are some administrative hurdles regarding this law, the government is trying to implement it soon.
This action of demolition of illegal Mazar in Rajpur, Haridwar is part of the comprehensive anti-encroachment campaign going on in the state. Chief Minister Dhami has made it clear that any illegal construction done on government land in Uttarakhand will not be tolerated and the government is fully committed to remove all such constructions.
