Uttarakhand News Today: There was a stir on Saturday (12 October) morning after a suspicious object was found on the Laksar-Roorkee railway track in Uttarakhand. The incident took place near the cantonment in Dhandera area, where a three-kg empty gas cylinder was found lying on the railway track. 

The driver of the BCN goods train informed the Railway Protection Force (RPF) about this incident at around 6:45 am. After which the security forces reached the spot. The presence of the cylinder raised security concerns there. Security agencies became alert after this incident.

SI Narendra Singh Negi of Railway Protection Force post Laksar and ASI Basant Lal of Roorkee immediately swung into action and went to the track to assess the situation. The cylinder was found lying near km 1553/1 of the up line. 

The cylinder was empty.
This place is near the wall of the army area, which made the matter more sensitive. Railway officials who reached the spot picked up the cylinder and started investigating it. The cylinder was found empty during investigation and station master Dhandhera took it in his custody. 

Roorkee railway station has been placed in the highly sensitive category and more than 80 trains stop at this station. Earlier too, letters threatening to blow up the station have been received, due to which security arrangements here are already kept tight. After this incident, a round of discussions has started in the area. 

Officials deny conspiracy
Many people are considering this as part of some big conspiracy. However, GRP officials are denying any conspiracy. GRP and Kotwali police have started investigating the case. Officials have assured to investigate this incident seriously. 

Railway officials say that at present the purpose of the presence of this cylinder is not clear, but a concrete decision can be taken only after a thorough investigation. Roorkee railway station is important not only for Uttarakhand but also for many parts of the country.

Apart from this, Roorkee Railway Station also plays a special role during the Kumbh Mela held in Haridwar. After this incident, the railway and police teams have become alert and vigilance has been increased at the station.
