Afghanistan's Foreign Ministry on Wednesday summoned the Charge d'Affaires of the Pakistan Embassy in Kabul following Pakistani airstrikes in the Barmal district of Afghanistan's Paktika province, in which 46 people were killed and many others injured.

Strongly condemn the attack by Pakistan

The post said that the attack by the Pakistan Army was strongly condemned and the Embassy of Pakistan was informed that the violation of Afghan airspace and the martyrdom of civilians by the Pakistan Army at a time when representatives of the civilian government of Pakistan were negotiating with Afghan officials in Kabul is seen as a deliberate attempt by some circles in Pakistan aimed at undermining trust and creating tension in relations between the two countries.

He further wrote, The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, with its long history of defending the country against major powers, strongly rejects any violation of territorial integrity and is committed to defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Afghanistan.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson further stressed that the security of Afghanistan's national territory is a "red line" for the nation and warned that such actions would have consequences.

Furthermore, the Pakistani side has been clearly informed that protecting the national sovereignty of Afghanistan is a red line for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and such actions are considered highly irresponsible and will certainly have adverse consequences, Zia Ahmed wrote.

Many terrorists were killed in the attack

However, the Taliban's defense ministry argued that "Waziristani refugees" were also killed in the attack and rejected the claim that only terrorists were targeted. Since then, tensions have increased between Afghanistan and Pakistan and the Taliban has also warned of retaliation.

The Pakistani Taliban, or Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), has increased its attacks on the Pakistani military in recent months, with Pakistan accusing the Afghan Taliban of harbouring these militants.

Tensions between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban have been simmering for some time now, exacerbated by the presence of TTP militants in Afghanistan. While Pakistan accuses the Afghan Taliban of harbouring these militants, the Taliban insists it is not collaborating with the group.
