Modi Cabinet on Monday made a big announcement for farmers and approved seven schemes with a total cost of Rs 13,966 crore. The government said that these decisions have been taken with the aim of improving the lives of farmers and increasing their income.
The Union Cabinet approved seven important decisions in the meeting to promote agriculture-related activities and increase food security across the country. Giving information about this decision of the government, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that these measures have been designed to support the agriculture sector, promote sustainable development and ensure the availability of food for all citizens.

- Digital Agriculture Mission: Giving information about the decisions, Ashwini Vaishnav said that the first important decision is the Digital Agriculture Mission. It is being developed on the lines of the structure of digital public infrastructure for agriculture. Some good pilot projects have been started and we have achieved success, with a total investment of Rs 20,817 crore, Digital Agriculture Mission will be established.
- Crop science for food and nutrition security : The second important decision is to promote crop science for food and nutrition security. Under this, at a cost of Rs 3979 crore, farmers will be prepared to grow crops according to climate change and food security will be achieved till 2047.
- Strengthening agricultural education, management and social sciences : The central government has also approved a scheme of Rs 2,291 crore to strengthen agricultural education, management and social sciences. Under this, agricultural students and researchers will be prepared to deal with the current challenges.
- Sustainable Livestock Health and Production: The Union Cabinet has approved a scheme of Rs 1,702 crore for sustainable livestock health and production with the aim of increasing the income of farmers from livestock and dairy. Under this, animal health management and veterinary education and dairy production and technology development will be promoted.
- Sustainable Development of Horticulture: The Centre has sanctioned ₹860 crore for the purpose of sustainable development of horticulture to increase the income of farmers from horticultural plants.
- Strengthening of Krishi Vigyan Kendra: The Central Government has sanctioned Rs 1,202 crore for strengthening of Krishi Vigyan Kendra.
- Natural resource management: Rs 1,115 crore has also been sanctioned for natural resource management.
