Every year Ram Navami is celebrated on the ninth day of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month. On this auspicious occasion, Lord Shri Ram, the epitome of character, is worshipped. Also, a fast is observed to attain the desired result. This year Ram Navami is on 06 April.

It is contained in the Ramayana composed by Valmiki that Lord Shri Ram was born on the Navami Tithi of the Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month at noon. Lord Rama's great devotee Valmiki Ji has given information about his incarnation in Ramayana. According to this verse, Lord Rama was born on the ninth day of the Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month in Cancer Lagna and Punarvasu Nakshatra. Hence, Ramnavami is celebrated every year in the month of Chaitra.

At the time of Lord Shri Ram's incarnation, the position of the planets was as follows. Chandra Dev, the factor of mind, was in Cancer sign. Whereas, Surya Dev was present in Aries sign. Whereas, Mangal Dev was in Capricorn sign and Shani Dev was in Libra. Apart from this, Devguru Jupiter was in Cancer sign and Venus, the factor of happiness, was in Pisces sign. Overall, all the planets were in high position. Every year Ram Navami is celebrated during the transit of Venus in Pisces sign.
