
Dehradun News: A case of food poisoning has come to light in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand. In Dehradun, people fasting during Navratri fast had consumed a large amount of buckwheat flour, but they got food poisoning due to eating adulterated or spoiled flour. There was an atmosphere of chaos due to the sudden arrival of a large number of patients in Doon and Coronation Hospital. Many people complained of vomiting, diarrhea and stomach ache. Some patients had to be admitted to the ICU when their condition became critical. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat reached the hospital and inquired about the health of the sick people and gave instructions for their proper treatment.

. After this incident, police and food safety department conducted a joint raid in Vikasnagar, Patelnagar and Kotwali areas. During this, bags of buckwheat flour were confiscated from many shops and warehouses. The administration has taken several samples on the basis of suspicion and sent them to the lab for testing. Initial investigation has revealed that buckwheat flour may be adulterated, which caused food poisoning. Food safety officials said that due to increased demand for buckwheat and water chestnut flour during Navratri, many shopkeepers sell fake or adulterated flour. Now the administration is taking action against those selling adulterated flour.
After the incident, the administration has appealed to the people to buy flour only from trusted shops. The Health Department has advised the citizens to be cautious and get admitted to the hospital in case of any suspicious situation. The Food Safety Department has clarified that if adulteration is found in the flour, strict action will be taken against the concerned shopkeepers under the Food Safety Act.

In the case of many people falling ill due to buckwheat flour in Dehradun, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami met the victims and inquired about their well-being. Also, in this case, the District Magistrate Dehradun and Senior Superintendent of Police Dehradun have been instructed to take immediate strict action against the concerned. After the instructions of the CM, the police identified 22 shops/stores and sealed them. The administrative team raided those shops and stores and seized all such food items which are likely to be adulterated. The shopkeepers are being questioned by bringing them to the police station.
