During this period, journalists burnt the effigy of the domineering Nagar Panchayat president in Sarila. During this period, they submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister to the ADM demanding action against the accused. Journalists expressed their protest by marching five kilometers on foot with black flags, banners, placards and black bands tied on their hands.
The journalists' protest also received support from advocates, farmers union and Brahmin community. In view of security, heavy police force was deployed on the spot during the protest.
Chairman beats up journalist
Let us tell you, recently in Sarila of Hamirpur district, Nagar Panchayat Chairman Pawan Anurag and his henchmen got very angry due to the publication of a news. After this, the accused chairman and his henchmen held two journalists Amit Dwivedi and Shailendra Mishra hostage in a room and treated them inhumanly by stripping them naked.
Earlier in Fatehpur district, ANI news agency journalist Dilip Saini was murdered for opposing extortion. In Mahoba district too, newspaper journalist Teevra Prakash Singh was beaten up by half a dozen goons without any reason. Journalists of the district are angry over this incident with journalists.
5 km march taken out
In this regard, journalists of Press Club Association, Press Club of UP and Indian Council of Press protested by tying black bands on their hands under the banner of Joint Media Club. During this, journalists expressed their protest by marching about 5 km on foot from Aalha Chowk to the Collectorate of the city.
During the protest, a huge police force including Magistrate, CO City, Kotwali Police, LIU was present on the spot. By submitting a memorandum, the journalists demanded strict legal action by registering a case against Nagar Panchayat Chairman Pawan Anurag and his henchmen who were accused of brutality with journalists in Sarila.
There should be a high level investigation of the matter.
United Media Club president Bhagwan Deen Yadav said that a high level committee should be formed for a fair and quick investigation of the incident so that all the accused can be punished.
Irfan Pathan, Bundelkhand in-charge of the organization, said that attacks on journalists will not be tolerated anymore. He has demanded financial assistance for the family of deceased ANI journalist Dilip Saini in Fatehpur. He demanded strict action against the accused involved in the Sarila case.
Demand for making Journalist Protection Act:
Press Club Association President Amit Shrotiy said that the Chairman of Sarila Nagar Panchayat should be removed from his post immediately so that he cannot misuse his position and the investigation can be done in a fair manner. Along with this, a demand was made to register a case against the accused who assaulted journalist Teevra Prakash Singh in Mahoba yesterday and send them to jail.
Along with ensuring the safety of the victimised journalists and their families during the protest, strict measures have been demanded for the safety of journalists. They have demanded that the Journalist Protection Act be made and implemented in the state soon for the safety of journalists, so that such incidents with journalists can be prevented in future.
