In Sanatan Dharma, it is prescribed to worship Mahadev during Pradosh Kaal. In such a situation, Mahashivratri will be celebrated on 26th February.

Milk, sandalwood, roli, mauli, rice, camphor, belpatra, saffron, bhang, madar, dhatura, cow curd, perfume, kumkum, garland, shami patra, gems and jewellery, honey, sugar, fruits, Gangajal, sacred thread, perfume, cardamom, cloves, betel nut, betel leaf, dakshina, etc. should be included in the Mahashivratri puja thali. It is believed that by not including these things in Mahashivratri puja, the person is deprived of auspicious results.
