Saharanpur News Today: A shocking case has come to light from Uttar Pradesh. Where a man beat up a 17-year-old girl and forced her to remove her hijab to make a video. On Saturday (November 14), the police arrested the accused named Mehtab (38).
According to the news published in Times of India, the victim told the police in her complaint that she was going home with her 16-year-old sister. During this time, the accused Mehtab started harassing the girl accusing her of talking to a 'Hindu man'. At the time of the incident, more than a dozen people surrounded the victim and her sister and started harassing them.
What is the whole matter?
This whole matter is of Deoband of Saharanpur district on 11 December. This incident gained momentum when its alleged video started going viral on social media. After this, the victim lodged a complaint with the police and the police have arrested an accused named Mehtab.
In her statement to the police, the victim said that on the day of the incident, she was returning from a relative's house with her sister, when a bike rider stopped and asked them for directions. According to the 17-year-old victim, she was telling the bike rider the way when two unknown people stopped them and started creating a ruckus.
The victim said that the two accused did not stop here but started calling more people to the spot. The accused and the mob claimed that the two girls were talking to a 'Hindu man'. Soon, more than a dozen people surrounded the victim and her sister and slapped them.
Phones snatched from girls
The video of this entire incident went viral on social media. In the video, the victim and her sister can be seen surrounded by many people. The victim alleged that when she was trying to call her brother, people in the crowd snatched her phone. At the time of the incident, one of the girls was also holding a gift.
It is being claimed that the girls had brought these gifts to give to a Hindu man. However, later it was found out that the man was not a Hindu, then the crowd let them go. After this incident, both the girls got scared and have lodged a complaint with the local police.
Police registered FIR
Saharanpur Rural Superintendent of Police Sagar Jain said that in this case an FIR has been registered under Section 115-2, 352 (intentional insult) of the Indian Justice Code and Section 67 of the IT Act. He said that an accused named Mehtab has been arrested, other people involved in the incident are being identified on the basis of the viral video.
