Washington: Hurricane Beryl is wreaking havoc in the US. Eight people have died here due to the storm falling trees and causing heavy floods. Officials said that seven people died in Texas and another person in neighboring Louisiana due to the deadly storm.
20 lakh people lost power in their homes
More than 2 million homes in southeast Texas lost power due to power cuts. At the same time, 14,000 homes in Louisiana were also without electricity. Air-conditioned shelters have been set up for residents while crews work to restore service.
Houston badly affected by storm and flooding
The U.S. National Hurricane Center said Beryl had weakened on Tuesday and was moving northeast toward Canada with winds of 30 miles (45 kilometers) per hour, but warned it could still produce flooding and tornadoes. Houston, home to more than 2 million people, has been hard hit by hurricane-force winds and flooding.
