Every year, Diwali is celebrated with great enthusiasm on Kartik Amavasya. This time Diwali is being celebrated on Thursday, October 31. This festival is mainly celebrated on the occasion of Lord Shri Ram's return to Ayodhya. On this day, Goddess Lakshmi and Ganesha are worshipped together in the evening. But do you know the reason for this? If not, then let's know the reason.

what is mythology

According to the legend, once Goddess Lakshmi became proud that people worship her for wealth and prosperity and do various things to please her. Then Lord Vishnu broke the ego of Goddess Lakshmi and said that despite being the goddess of wealth and prosperity, you are incomplete. On this, Goddess Lakshmi asked the reason for this, then Vishnu ji replied that a woman is considered incomplete until she gets the happiness of motherhood. Mother Lakshmi was very hurt after hearing this from Vishnu ji.

This boon was given to Ganesh ji

After this, when Maa Lakshmi met Parvati ji, she expressed her sorrow to Maa Parvati. She also told Maa Parvati that you have two sons, so please give me Ganesh as an adopted son. At first, Maa Parvati got a little worried after hearing this. Maa Lakshmi ji sensed her worry and said that I give this boon to Ganesh that wherever I will be worshipped, Ganesh will also be worshipped with me. It is believed that since then Maa Lakshmi and Ganesh ji started being worshipped together on the occasion of Diwali.

That is why puja is also done together

In Hinduism, Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped as the giver of wealth and prosperity. On the occasion of Diwali, Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped with the wish of attaining wealth, because it is believed that Goddess Lakshmi arrives in the house on the day of Diwali. If we talk about the human mind, then when wealth comes, the wisdom of a person also changes, that is, the person starts becoming proud of more wealth. In such a situation, along with the goddess of wealth, the god of wisdom, i.e. Ganesh ji is also worshipped. So that when a person gets wealth, he can use it wisely.

Another opinion is that if someone gets wealth without pure wisdom, it can lead to destruction. In such a situation, it is important to have good wisdom along with wealth, so that good luck, happiness, wealth and fame remain in life. This is the reason why there is a tradition of worshipping Ganesha along with Lakshmi ji on Diwali.
