Dehradun News: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami recently announced the launch of a comprehensive verification drive, expressing concern over demographic changes in the state. The Chief Minister said that the objective of this initiative is to identify people who have come to reside in the state from different states and to investigate them properly. Emphasis was laid on conducting this drive especially in the plains, so that illegal residence and crime activities can be controlled. In the same sequence, a verification drive was started in Dehradun city. 

The campaign was first started from Paltan Bazaar, which is one of the busiest and main markets of the city. Dehradun Police conducted an intensive checking campaign in this area, the main objective of which was to ensure that people living in the city from other states are properly registered and are not involved in any illegal activity. During this drive, the police caught around 200 suspicious people who were residing in Dehradun without any valid registration or verification. The police checked the identity and status of these people and ensured whether they are within the ambit of the law or not.

while giving information about the success of this drive, SSP of Dehradun, Ajay Singh said, "It is very important for us to verify all the residents in the city, especially those who have come from other states and settled here. During this campaign conducted in Paltan Bazaar, around 200 suspicious people have been caught, who are now being verified. We are making sure that all the people are registered correctly and their activities are being checked.
