Home-cooked food has become expensive in September 2024 compared to a year ago. According to a report by domestic rating agency Crisil, home-cooked food has become expensive in September due to a surge in the prices of onion, potato and tomato. The report said that the price of vegetarian food increased from Rs 28 in September to Rs 31.3. 1 in September 2023 and from Rs 31.2 in August, an increase of 11 per cent. According to PTI news, the report said that the prices of onion, potato and tomato increased by 53 per cent, 50 per cent and 18 per cent respectively in September.
14% increase in the price of pulses
According to the news, the prices rose because the arrival of onions and potatoes was low, while heavy rains affected tomato production in Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. Along with this, the report said that the prices of pulses have increased by 14 percent compared to last year due to the decrease in production, while fuel prices have fallen by 11 percent due to price cuts earlier this year. In the case of a non-vegetarian thali, the cost of the meal decreased by 2 percent to Rs 59 compared to last year.
Cost of non-vegetarian food remained stable
Broiler prices declined by 13 per cent, accounting for 50 per cent of the total, the report said. The cost of non-vegetarian food, which includes payments on vegetables but pulses are replaced by broiler, remained stable compared to August's rate, the report said.
