New Delhi. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is a well-known director. But despite being such a big director, Anurag has also given many big budget films which flopped. Anurag Kashyap blamed Shahrukh Khan's fan base for this. Anurag said that it is Shahrukh Khan's fan base due to which he has not been able to work with him till date.
Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet featured Bollywood A-listers like Ranbir Kapoor, Karan Johar and Anushka Sharma but despite this the film failed.
Why was Anurag scared of Shahrukh's fans?
In an interview with Humans of Cinema, Anurag Kashyap was asked why he has not worked with Shahrukh Khan despite liking him so much? In response to this, Anurag Kashyap said, "Shahrukh Khan's film 'Chak De India' is my favorite film. I like him very much and want to work with him. But right now I am scared of his fan base." Anurag said that in this era of social media, I am scared of the fans of big stars. Fans typecast actors and like to see the same kind of character. If an actor does a movie different from that, then the fans reject him. This is the reason why actors are now preferring to do films of the same genre.
We don't need superheroes - Anurag
Anurag said that I want to make the film that I like, not for the fans. But it can have many adverse effects or consequences and you can suffer huge losses. That is why I do not want to mess with Shahrukh's fan base. In the same interview, Anurag mentioned that in our country heroes are considered gods. He said that if Hollywood has Iron Man and other superheroes, then we have Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan.
