News Topical, Digital Desk : The issue of 110 railway quarters, nearly 30 years old, built in the Unchahar railway station complex has once again gained momentum. These quarters fell into disrepair after their construction and were already dilapidated before being handed over to the railway department.
These residences were officially declared dilapidated in 2022-23. Following this, the railway administration evicted the outsiders living there and removed the doors, windows, and other useful materials. Demolition orders were also issued. During that time, demolition work was carried out at some locations using JCB machines, but the matter was later shelved. Now, efforts are once again underway to demolish these dilapidated residences.
The Inspector-in-Charge of the Unchahar Railway Protection Force (RPF) post has sent a report to higher authorities in this regard. The report clearly states that these dilapidated houses, which have been vacant for a long time, are a potential source of criminal activity, which is a serious security concern.
Along with this, this report has also been sent to the Regional Assistant Divisional Engineer, Prayagraj, so that necessary action can be ensured as soon as possible.
RPF post in-charge Inspector SK Singh says that a report has been sent to the concerned authorities for demolition of the dilapidated houses. Meanwhile, Assistant Divisional Engineer Pawan Kumar says that after demolition of the dilapidated houses, the process of constructing new houses is underway. A team will soon be dispatched to demolish the dilapidated houses using JCBs.
