The dangerous military standoff in West Asia has escalated dramatically as the United States military launched a wave of fierce airstrikes targeting strategic positions of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The direct escalation has triggered aggressive verbal crossfire, with U.S. President Donald Trump warning Tehran of an unprecedented "biggest attack" if it attempts to retaliate, while Iranian officials vowed that Washington will deeply regret its military aggression.
CENTCOM Justifies Strikes Amid Strait of Hormuz Tensions
According to official updates from the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), the latest military intervention was authorized in response to mounting security threats against international commercial shipping lanes in the vital Strait of Hormuz, as well as ongoing attacks directed at U.S. military personnel stationed across the region.
Iran's state news agency, IRNA, reported that four explosive projectiles landed in urban areas adjacent to the eastern Strait of Hormuz during the exchanges. U.S. President Donald Trump escalated the rhetoric further on Truth Social, issuing a blistering warning to Tehran. Trump asserted that any retaliatory move by what he termed a "failed nation" would be met with overwhelming force, adding that the recent strikes do not represent the full extent of American military power.
"If Iran retaliates for this justifiable attack, it will be hit even harder and at an even worse level," Trump wrote. "But even that will not be our biggest attack; it is waiting in the wings, and when it ends, very little of the Islamic Republic of Iran will remain."
Trump further claimed that joint U.S. and Israeli operations have severely degraded Iran's military capabilities, crippled its economy, and decimated its leadership structure, while warning that further kinetic action remains an option.
