The teacher and police claim other students came to her to blackmail her and blackmail her for better grades after becoming aware of it.

The teacher has been accused of several offences, including tampering with evidence, child abuse and improper contact with a child. Nichols was eventually out on bail; a judge has ordered she remain away from all minors apart from her daughter.
