India Slams Pakistan at UN: 'Lost Control Over Bhasmasur'
India delivered an unsparing rebuttal against Pakistan at the United Nations General Assembly's Sixth Committee on legal affairs, calling out Islamabad's duplicity in posing as a counter-terror victim while operating state-backed extremist networks. Exercising New Delhi's Right of Reply against Pakistan's Deputy Permanent Representative Usman Jadoon, First Secretary at India's Permanent Mission Raghu Puri stated that Pakistan has lost control over the "Frankenstein monsters" and mythical "Bhasmasuras" it systematically bred, which are now boomeranging across its own borders and terrorizing the wider South Asian region.
Pakistan's Internal Admissions and 26/11 Complicity
Exposing the contradictions within Pakistan’s political establishment, Puri pointed directly to statements made by top civilian leaders. He recalled remarks by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz acknowledging that her province faces greater security threats from within Pakistan's internal borders than from external neighbors. Puri further spotlighted the 2018 interview given by her father, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, to Dawn newspaper, where Sharif explicitly admitted Pakistan's hand in enabling cross-border terrorists to carry out the deadly 20Naval-coordinated 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks that claimed over 150 innocent lives.
Military Reality Checks and Operation Sindoor Claims
Dismissing Islamabad’s claims of military success against India during Operation Sindoor as state-sponsored psychological deception, the Indian diplomat rejected Pakistan's narrative before the global legal committee. Puri stated that if cratered runways, neutralized infrastructure, and bombed-out military airfields represent triumph in Islamabad's eyes, they are welcome to revel in that illusion. He noted that such desperate posturing merely serves to divert international attention from domestic failures and institutional support for designated global terror operatives.
Targeted Religious Killings and Safe Harbors for Masood Azhar
Puri turned global attention to ideological hate crimes, specifically recalling the Pahalgam terror attack where Islamist radicals verified the religious identities of tourists—deliberately targeting Hindu and Christian visitors—before opening fire. Calling out the irony of Pakistan lecturing multilateral bodies on religious harmony, Puri highlighted that safe havens for internationally sanctioned terrorists like Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar persist under state patronage. He observed that when international journalists can easily establish contact with Azhar for statements regarding military escalations, it confirms that Islamabad continues to shelter him within its borders while deflecting global scrutiny.
