Temperatures have surpassed 40 degrees Celsius in many parts of the country, leading to a surge in emergency calls.

Public Health France released a statement on Sunday stating that since Wednesday (June 24), the country has recorded over 1,000 additional deaths compared to a normal day. According to the agency, the region most affected by the disaster was on a red heat alert
, including Ile-de-France, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Brittany, Centre-Val de Loire, Normandy, and Pays de la Loire. Around 85 percent of these deaths were among elderly people aged 65 or older. Ban on drinking alcohol:
To reduce the increasing burden on emergency services in Paris, the administration had banned drinking alcohol in public places on the weekend. Not only this, the 'Paris Pride March' scheduled for Saturday has also been postponed. Due to the heat, famous places like the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Museum are also being closed before the scheduled time. To get relief from the scorching sun and heat, people kept gathering in parks and on the banks of canals throughout the week. But the administration has issued strict instructions regarding the dangers of swimming in unattended places.

This intense heat wave is currently being felt across Europe. Friday was the hottest day in Britain, with the village of Santon Downham in Suffolk recording a temperature of 37.3 degrees Celsius. Temperatures in Spain and Germany have also surpassed 40 degrees Celsius.
