Why is Environment Day celebrated?
It was in 1972 when the first global summit on environmental protection was organized by the United Nations General Assembly on June 5. Many countries participated in this program. During this, environmental challenges were discussed. Then the United Nations Environment Programme was established and June 5 was declared as World Environment Day .
This has an effect on health
- When the amount of smoke and toxic elements in the air starts increasing, the air becomes polluted. In such a situation, the risk of many diseases also increases. The problem of air pollution has become common in big cities like Delhi and Mumbai. This increases the risk of airborne diseases. Many diseases like respiratory disease, heart disease, lungs, asthma, bronchitis can affect you.

How to keep the environment clean
- Use glass bottles instead of plastic bottles.
- Avoid using polythene. You can use cloth bags or paper packets.
- Do not throw household waste out in the open.
- Plant lots of trees.
