News Topical, Digital Desk : King Bali is known as Mahabali, Paramveer, and a powerful warrior. He is mentioned in the Ramayana and various Puranas. Bali was the monkey king of Kishkindha and the elder brother of Sugreeva. Tales of his strength and valor are still recounted today, especially the story of him subduing the arrogance of Ravana, the ten-headed demon .

The amazing powers of Bali

According to the Kishkindhakanda of the Valmiki Ramayana, King Bali was blessed by his father, the king of the gods, Indra, with a power that made him virtually invincible. He was granted the boon that whenever he fought, half of Bali's strength would be absorbed by him. Because of this power, every warrior he faced would lose half their strength before the battle even began, doubling Bali's strength. This made him impossible to defeat.

When he came face to face with Ravana

Once, Ravana, the king of Lanka, was on a conquest. Proud of his strength, he approached Kishkindha. Ravana saw Bali performing penance on the seashore. He challenged him to a duel, hoping to defeat him and prove his strength. As soon as Ravana decided to fight Bali, Bali's blessed power absorbed half of his strength. Without any effort, Bali pinned Ravana to his armpit.

Bali held Ravana close to his side for six months. Seeing his prowess so insulted, Ravana's pride was shattered. Recognizing Bali's superiority in strength, Ravana befriended him.

Bali's last minute

Ultimately, Bali was killed by Lord Rama to bring justice to his younger brother Sugreeva. Bali was punished for his actions in expelling his brother Sugreeva from the kingdom and taking away his wife, and was killed by Lord Rama's arrow, as it was difficult to defeat him in a face-to-face battle. Lord Rama sent Sugreeva to fight Bali, even though Rama knew that Sugreeva would be defeated. While the two brothers Bali and Sugreeva were fighting, Rama released an arrow that struck Bali directly in the chest, killing Bali.
