Yogi Govt Schedules Classes 1 to 8 Tests from November 17 to 21

The Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council has officially announced the half-yearly examination schedule for classes 1 to 8 across all council and recognized schools from November 17 to 21, 2026; check class-wise oral and written test guidelines, subject details, and BSA instructions for the 2026-27 session.

In a concerted push to evaluate foundational learning outcomes and strengthen academic standards across elementary education, the Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has officially unveiled the schedule for the half-yearly examinations for the 2026-27 academic session. Releasing the timetable through the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council on Thursday, October 29, 2026, the administration notified that examinations for students enrolled in classes 1 through 8 across all council-run (parishadiya) and state-recognized primary and upper primary schools will take place from November 17 to November 21, 2026. Emphasizing fairness, institutional integrity, and academic rigor, Council Secretary Surendra Tiwari issued formal directives to all District Basic Education Officers (BSAs) across Uttar Pradesh’s 75 districts, ordering that model question papers be prepared at the district level with watertight security to ensure complete confidentiality, standardized testing, and seamless distribution across rural and urban school clusters.

Oral and Written Formats: Class-Wise Examination Structure and Subject Distribution

The examination architecture has been customized in accordance with grade-specific pedagogical standards to gauge core competencies effectively without overburdening younger learners. Under the council's framework, students in Class 1 will undergo solely oral evaluations designed to assess basic literacy, numeracy, and environmental comprehension in an interactive, stress-free environment. For students progressing through Classes 2 and 3, alongside Classes 4 and 5, evaluations will blend both oral and written formats to assess developing linguistic capabilities, arithmetic fundamentals, and conceptual retention. For upper primary students in Classes 6 through 8, the council has mandated full-fledged written examinations designed to test analytical clarity and subject mastery across an expansive curriculum, covering core academic disciplines including Hindi, Mathematics, English, Science, Social Science, Environmental Studies (EVS), Arts and Music, as well as secondary languages such as Sanskrit and Urdu.

Zero Tolerance for Discrepancies: District Protocols for Secure Evaluation and Timely Results

To safeguard the credibility of the assessment process, the Basic Education Council has instituted strict operational protocols for district authorities, making BSAs personally accountable for the secure printing, tamper-proof packaging, and synchronized delivery of district-level question papers to remote schools. Following the conclusion of the testing window on November 21, school administrations will coordinate the systematic collection, randomized distribution, and prompt evaluation of answer sheets under centralized monitoring guidelines to ensure unbiased grading. Emphasizing that systematic diagnostic assessments are critical to identifying learning deficits before annual finals, the state education department has mandated strict adherence to evaluation timelines, requiring schools to compile comprehensive student progress scorecards and declare results promptly, thereby reinforcing the Yogi administration's mission to transform Uttar Pradesh’s state-run schools into hubs of qualitative, benchmarked academic excellence.
