Yogi Government Increases CM Krishak Accident Welfare Scheme Budget to ₹1,150 Crore
The agricultural sector serves as the backbone of Uttar Pradesh's economy, and prioritizing the social and economic security of farming families remains a core focus of the administration. To strengthen this protective safety net, the Yogi Adityanath government has significantly boosted the financial allocation for the Chief Minister's Farmer Accident Welfare Scheme (Mukhyamantri Krishak Durghatna Kalyan Yojana), raising the budget to ₹1,150 crore for the current fiscal year. This marked increase of ₹100 crore over the previous year's ₹1,050 crore allocation underscores the state's unwavering commitment to supporting farmers and their dependents during times of sudden crisis.
Comprehensive Coverage and Expanded Eligibility for Farming Families
Originally implemented on September 14, 2019, the scheme is designed to shield farming households from severe financial distress caused by accidental death or disability, offering financial assistance of up to ₹5 lakh. Over time, the government has broadened the eligibility criteria to ensure maximum outreach. Beyond the primary land account holders and co-account holders listed in official revenue records, coverage extends to earning family members whose primary livelihood depends on agricultural income from that land. Furthermore, landless agricultural laborers and farmers engaged in leasehold or sharecropping arrangements are also included under the expanded umbrella of beneficiaries.
Transparent Implementation and Direct Impact on Thousands of Households
The scheme's operational success is reflected in its extensive reach across districts. During the 2025–26 financial year, the fully utilized allocation of ₹1,050 crore directly benefited approximately 21,659 dependent families. Building on this momentum, the government has already cleared financial approvals for the first and second installments totaling ₹862.50 crore out of the newly enhanced ₹1,150 crore budget for 2026–27. Driven by district-level demands, over 17,152 dependent families have already received assistance in the current financial year alone. To ensure complete transparency and accountability, the Revenue Department has integrated the dedicated scheme portal directly with the official CM Dashboard, allowing district magistrates and state authorities to monitor disbursements in real-time and provide prompt relief to eligible families.
