Yogi Government Approves Rs 34.91 Cr for Saharanpur: New Maskara River Bridge and Gandevad-Chilkana Road

In a major infrastructural boost for western Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi Adityanath government has sanctioned a substantial budget of Rs 34.91 crore for crucial development projects in Saharanpur. The approval, finalized during a meeting of the Public Works Department's Expenditure Finance Committee, addresses long-pending public demands that local residents have raised for years. The sanctioned funds will directly fund the construction of a much-needed bridge over the Maskara River near Murtazapur village and the comprehensive strengthening and repair of the dilapidated Gandevad-Chilkana road.

Fulfilling a Long-Standing Demand: New Bridge Over Maskara River

For years, commuters and villagers residing near Murtazapur in Saharanpur’s Behat region faced severe daily connectivity challenges due to the absence of a proper bridge over the Maskara River. Highlighting this persistent local struggle, Minister of State Jaswant Saini announced that the state government has officially sanctioned Rs 16.69 crore for the project.

The approved funds will cover the complete construction of the bridge, essential safety reinforcement measures, and the development of proper access roads. This initiative is expected to transform regional transit, ensuring safe and seamless passage for villagers, school children, and farmers who previously risked dangerous crossings during seasonal rains.

Rs 18.22 Crore Approved for Gandevad-Chilkana Road Reconstruction

Alongside the bridge project, the government has addressed another critical regional grievance: the deteriorating condition of the Gandevad-Chilkana road. Heavily scarred by deep potholes and years of neglect, the route had become a major hazard for motorists and daily commuters.

The Public Works Department has approved a dedicated budget of Rs 18.22 crore to execute comprehensive reconstruction and strengthening work across a 20 to 35-kilometer stretch of the road. State officials emphasized that the Yogi administration remains fully committed to grassroots development, ensuring that vital regional infrastructure projects experience no bureaucratic delays.
