Target on Stalled Mega Projects Exceeding ₹50 Crore and Bitumen Procurement

A central agenda of the high-level review revolves around identifying bottlenecks in long-pending infrastructure projects approved during the 2023-24 financial year and earlier cycles that carry individual budgets exceeding ₹50 crore. The Chief Minister ordered an exhaustive project-by-project examination to establish the precise administrative, environmental, or contractual hurdles delaying completion. Concurrently, discussions focused on meeting the additional requisition for industrial-grade bitumen (asphalt) required to initiate rapid resurfacing operations as soon as weather conditions stabilize, ensuring highway quality adheres to strict structural standards without premature wear.

₹33,000 Crore Infrastructure Outlay: 1,012 Special Repair Roads Approved

Financial records from the Public Works Department indicate that out of the massive ₹33,000 crore state outlay allocated specifically for roadway development in the current fiscal year, 51 percent of funds have already been officially sanctioned and released, with 41 percent currently deployed toward ongoing ground schemes. To restore mobility across severed connectivity stretches, formal approval has been sanctioned for the reconstruction and intensive restoration of 1,012 roads requiring special technical interventions. Engineering teams have been instructed to mobilize heavy machinery, aggregate material, and field labor in advance so that ground execution commences immediately upon the cessation of rainfall.
