UP Proposes 'Singapore City' Near Jewar Airport, Focuses on Semiconductor
In a landmark economic push designed to establish Uttar Pradesh as India's premier global manufacturing and digital technology powerhouse, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that the state is actively translating ₹60,000 crore in Singapore-backed investment proposals into operational projects across advanced industries. Welcoming a 14-member high-level delegation from the Singapore Business Federation to Lucknow on Wednesday, the Chief Minister underscored that while India has established itself as an economic giant under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 12-year national leadership, Uttar Pradesh has systematically shed its historical perception as a struggling state over the past nine and a half years to emerge as the nation's primary growth engine. Reaffirming the diplomatic momentum built during his official visit to Singapore where strategic accords were signed with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, the Chief Minister stated that the administration's primary focus has shifted from exploratory memorandums to fast-track on-ground execution, rapid factory construction, and early production rollouts.
High-Tech 'Singapore City' Near Jewar: Pushing for Semiconductor Fabs, AI Data Hubs, and Green Energy
Serving as the centerpiece of the bilateral meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath formally invited Singaporean conglomerates to co-develop a world-class "Singapore City" and an integrated high-tech industrial township adjacent to the Noida International Airport in Gautam Buddh Nagar. Outlining the state's strategic transformation, the Chief Minister identified six critical priority corridors for immediate joint ventures: multimodal logistics and integrated warehousing powered by the Jewar aviation hub, dedicated freight corridors, and world-class expressways; high-tech manufacturing anchored by semiconductor fab units and advanced electronics; hyperscale data centers, cloud networks, and artificial intelligence infrastructure; and next-generation green tech encompassing solar grids, green hydrogen facilities, modern waste management, and industrial water recycling. Highlighting that Uttar Pradesh contributes 21 percent of India's total food grain production, the Chief Minister emphasized a high-margin partnership combining local agricultural yields with Singapore's packaging and export mechanisms, while inviting Singapore’s globally renowned town-planning architects to design modern urban expansions across Lucknow, the State Capital Region (SCR), and upcoming municipal satellites following high-level deliberations hosted by Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta 'Nandi' at the Taj Hotel.
Grounding Massive Projects: ₹775-Crore Packaging Hub at YEIDA and Green Waste Plants in Noida and Saharanpur
Demonstrating immediate conversion of state agreements into active projects, the state government presented the formal Certificate of Eligibility to M/s Greater Nashik Infracan Pvt Ltd, an affiliate of Singapore-based multinational Universal Success Enterprises Group, to establish a ₹775-crore "Universal Packaging Hub" spread over 50 acres in Sector 8D of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) corridor. Concurrently, operational MoUs were executed with Agricorp International and Blue Planet Environmental Solutions for environmental infrastructure ventures valued at approximately ₹350 crore. Under this municipal ecological mandate, the consortium will deploy advanced bio-mining and remediation technologies to treat 750,000 metric tons of legacy waste at Noida Sector 145, alongside constructing a cutting-edge municipal solid waste processing plant with a daily handling capacity of 350 tons in Saharanpur, solidifying Singapore's green industrial footprint across Western Uttar Pradesh's manufacturing landscape.
