UP Police Crack Down on DJ Operators; Strict Noise and Vehicle Height Norms Enforced

With the holy month of Sawan approaching, the Uttar Pradesh administration is leaving nothing to chance. Ahead of the much-anticipated Kanwar Yatra 2026, state police have initiated a massive crackdown on DJ operators across the region. Authorities have begun issuing formal notices, delivering a zero-tolerance warning regarding the strict enforcement of decibel limits and vehicle height regulations.

348 Operators Under Scrutiny Across NCR and Western UP

Superintendent of Police (City) Amrit Jain confirmed on Friday that police teams have identified at least 348 DJ operators across a wide corridor spanning Ghaziabad, Delhi, Sonipat, Faridabad, Karnal, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, and Noida. The objective is to ensure that every operator is fully aware of the legal guidelines before the festivities begin. The police have made it clear that any deviation from the prescribed sound volume or non-compliance with vehicle height restrictions will lead to immediate, harsh consequences, including the outright confiscation of sound equipment and vehicles.

Ensuring Safety for Millions of Pilgrims

This year’s Kanwar Yatra is scheduled to commence on July 30 and will conclude on August 11. During this period, millions of devotees from Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, and Western Uttar Pradesh will undertake the arduous journey to Haridwar to collect sacred Ganga water for the ritualistic Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva. Given the scale of the gathering, the administration is prioritizing the safety and convenience of the pilgrims above all else. Comprehensive traffic diversion plans and designated routes have already been finalized to manage the massive influx of devotees.

A Disciplined Pilgrimage

The move to regulate DJ music is part of a broader administrative effort to foster a serene and orderly environment during the holy month of Sawan. By curbing noise pollution and preventing traffic hazards caused by oversized DJ vehicles, the police aim to prevent untoward incidents and ensure a peaceful experience for all participants. As the start date nears, the administration remains vigilant, signaling that the Yatra will be conducted with strict adherence to public safety protocols and traditional decorum.
