UP Nutrition Month 2026: CM Yogi to Launch Campaign from Kashi to Empower Anganwadi Workers

Aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary commitment to building a well-nourished, healthy nation, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to officially launch the state-wide Nutrition Month on September 9, 2026, from the historic Rudraksh Convention Center in Varanasi (Kashi). Spanning a 30-day period from September 9 to October 8, this massive public health initiative aims to combat malnutrition, strengthen grassroots childcare frameworks, and empower women and children across Uttar Pradesh.

'Our Anganwadis - Our Responsibility': A New Focus on Accountability

Following last year's successful statewide launch in Lucknow under the banner of "Healthy Women, Empowered Families," this year’s campaign introduces a powerful new guiding theme: "Our Anganwadi - Our Responsibility." Designed to enhance administrative accountability and inspire frontline workers, the theme defines clear operational responsibilities for Anganwadi personnel. Given the upcoming administrative milestones, major announcements and incentive packages for Anganwadi workers, helpers, and grassroots personnel are widely anticipated during the grand inauguration in the Prime Minister's parliamentary constituency.

Four Core Pillars of the 2026 Nutrition Campaign

The inauguration ceremony at the Sigra Rudraksh Convention Centre will be held in the esteemed presence of Union and State Ministers of the Women and Child Development Ministry. During the event, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will formally unveil and champion four core thematic pillars for the month-long campaign:

  • Dietary Diversity and Adequate Protein: Emphasizing balanced nutrition to combat hidden hunger and nutritional deficiencies in children.

  • Freshly Cooked Food at Anganwadi Centres: Promoting the distribution of warm, hygienic, and locally sourced meals across all regional centers.

  • Community Ownership and Accountability: Fostering grassroots public participation and local oversight in managing nutrition programs.

  • Nutrition for Child Development and Early Stimulation: Integrating early childhood education and cognitive development strategies with optimal nutritional care.

Statewide Webcast and Direct Benefit Transfers

To ensure maximum public participation, the entire inaugural proceedings will be live-streamed across every district of Uttar Pradesh starting at 11:00 AM on September 9 via the official digital portal (webcast.gov.in/mwcd). Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs), Chief Sevikas, Anganwadi workers, assistants, beneficiaries, and parents will gather across districts to witness the live broadcast.

Additionally, as part of the state's ongoing welfare commitments, the Chief Minister is expected to disburse direct financial incentive payments into the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), reinforcing Uttar Pradesh's relentless drive toward comprehensive maternal and child health.
