As global markets navigate fresh economic shifts driven by rising crude oil prices crossing the $100 per barrel mark amid escalating US-Iran tensions, significant positive developments have emerged on the bilateral economic front. The highly anticipated proposed trade agreement between India and the United States is officially nearing completion and is in its final stages of finalization. Union Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agarwal shared this crucial update on Wednesday, confirming that both nations have successfully reached a broad consensus on the majority of core trade issues.

Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agarwal Highlights Preferential Market Access Framework

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the Global Fintech Fest 2026, Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agarwal noted that while a few remaining matters are still under active discussion, the final document will be formally signed at the optimal moment. According to news agency ANI, Agarwal emphasized that both economies must establish a framework ensuring reciprocal and preferential market access.
