Strict Action Against Exploitation and Negligence: UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya Issues Major Law and Order Directives
Ahead of the upcoming monsoon session, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Leader of the House Keshav Prasad Maurya chaired a high-level law and order review meeting with senior police and administrative officials in Lucknow. Emphasizing that maintaining peace and public safety remains the absolute top priority of the state government, Maurya instructed security personnel to keep protective arrangements watertight and effective throughout the legislative session. Addressing the administration, he made it clear that while democratic and peaceful protests are fundamental rights that must be protected, criminal elements attempting to disrupt public order or instigate trouble under the guise of student movements must be dealt with firmly and without exception.
Protecting Peaceful Protesters While Cracking Down on Criminal Elements
During the detailed administrative review, Deputy CM Maurya explicitly cautioned officials against any unnecessary harshness, high-handedness, or harassment directed at genuine student agitators. He underscored the importance of distinguishing between legitimate democratic dissent and malicious disruptions orchestrated by bad actors. At the same time, he directed security agencies to ensure that miscreants who exploit youth movements to propagate lawlessness or engage in illegal activities face swift, uncompromising legal action, reinforcing the government's zero-tolerance policy toward crime and disorder across Uttar Pradesh.
AppeAL for Dignified Proceedings in the Legislative Council
Shifting focus to parliamentary decorum, Maurya also addressed the Business Advisory Committee meeting of the Legislative Council, which was chaired by Council Chairman Kunwar Manvendra Singh. During the discussions, consensus was reached among members to ensure smooth proceedings and foster positive, constructive debates centered on pressing public welfare issues. Highlighting the negative impact of frequent walkouts and avoidable disruptions, the Leader of the House formally appealed to members across all political parties to extend their full cooperation, ensuring that legislative time is optimized to fulfill the expectations of the citizens of Uttar Pradesh.
