Shamli Police have officially doubled the bounty for information leading to the capture of the two remaining alleged shooters who are currently evading arrest. Initially carrying a reward of ₹50,000, the bounty for the wanted suspects—identified as Satyam and Aryan, both hailing from neighboring Haryana—has now been raised to ₹1 lakh. Superintendent of Police Narendra Pratap Singh confirmed that multiple specialized police teams have intensified manhunts and are conducting high-intensity raids across suspected hideouts in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.

The chilling assassination took place on the evening of August 26, 2026, when Ankit Baliyan was stepping out of a local gym in the Kotwali area of Shamli. Four assailants arriving on two separate motorcycles ambushed him in a hail of gunfire. Although the artist was rushed immediately to a nearby community health center, attending doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.
The investigation has since seen major breakthroughs; on August 31, two suspected shooters involved in the conspiracy—identified as 22-year-old Mohit and 24-year-old Sumit—were neutralized in a fierce gunfight with Shamli police. Authorities recovered three pistols and 26 rounds of live ammunition from the slain suspects. While the victim's grieving family publicly expressed relief over the encounter, they continue to demand strict justice and the immediate apprehension or elimination of the remaining accomplices.

Shedding light on the scale of the conspiracy, Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Krishna stated that Ankit Baliyan's murder was a meticulously pre-planned assassination, with illegal weapons procured from external sources. Investigators are actively probing potential links connecting the assailants to syndicates associated with the notorious Gogi gang, while exploring the suspects' movements before and after the crime. Meanwhile, the tragedy has drawn high-level political attention; Union Minister and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) President Jayant Chaudhary visited the bereaved family to urge faith in the legal system, while Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav spoke with the family directly to offer political solidarity and support.
