Capital residents in Uttar Pradesh are set to experience a major transformation in local connectivity and urban infrastructure. Under the developmental vision of the Yogi Adityanath government, official approval has been granted for the construction of a vital two-lane bridge over the Sai River in Lucknow. Designed to eliminate grueling detours and bridge deep geographical divides, this strategic project comes as a massive relief for commuters, farmers, and students across the region. Simultaneously, urban authorities have initiated major utility overhauls in Old Lucknow to fast-track the upcoming Lucknow Metro expansion.

Strategic Sai River Bridge Project: Cost, Dimensions, and Location

Addressing a long-standing local transportation bottleneck raised by Sarojini Nagar MLA Rajeshwar Singh, the Uttar Pradesh Bridge Corporation prepared a comprehensive blueprint that secured formal government approval on August 26, 2026.

• Location: Situated in front of Hulaskheda, strategically positioned between Haroni and Bhatgawan Pandey.

• Financial Outlay: The project has an estimated construction cost of approximately ₹19.94 crore.

• Dimensions: The total proposed length of the infrastructure project spans 1,571.23 meters, which includes a dedicated 90-meter main bridge span directly over the Sai River, flanked by extensive two-lane approach roads on both sides.

With financial clearance anticipated within the next one to two months, construction work is slated to be expedited to ensure prompt delivery.

Direct Benefits for 2 Lakh Residents and Rural Connectivity

The newly approved bridge is expected to directly impact and benefit a population of 1.5 to 2 lakh residents residing across Haroni, Bhatgawan Pandey, Hulaskheda, and surrounding rural clusters:

• Time and Distance Savings: Commuters will no longer be forced to take massive detours to cross the Sai River, drastically cutting down travel time for daily wage workers, office-goers, and students.

Old Lucknow Power Lines Undergrounded for East-West Metro Corridor

In a parallel infrastructure development aimed at modernizing urban transit, power distribution systems from Koneshwar Square to Dubagga in Old Lucknow are being shifted underground. Roadside electrical poles and exposed transformers along this busy corridor are being systematically removed to clear structural obstacles for the Lucknow Metro East-West Corridor (Phase 1B).

Valued at an estimated ₹5,801 crore, the upcoming 11.165-kilometer metro route from Charbagh to Vasant Kunj features 12 stations—including seven underground and five elevated stops at Thakurganj, Balaganj, Sarfarazganj, Musabagh, and Vasant Kunj. Removing overhead utility lines clears the final technical hurdle for the metro project, cementing Lucknow's rapid evolution into a world-class metropolitan hub.
