To significantly boost industrial cooperation and foreign direct investment between India and Japan, the high-profile "UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026" officially commenced in New Delhi. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, alongside key central cabinet ministers, is spearheading a high-level dialogue with representatives from Japan’s premier industrial conglomerates. Running through August 23, the multi-day event has drawn over 200 Japanese CEOs, business leaders, policy architects, and delegates, with the international delegation led by Kotaro Nagasaki, Governor of Yamanashi Prefecture. The strategic summit aims to cement Uttar Pradesh's position as a preferred global manufacturing hub and accelerate the state's trajectory toward a one-trillion-dollar economy.
Strategic Dialogue on Green Energy, Mobility, and Advanced Technologies
The opening sessions at the summit featured comprehensive discussions centered on high-growth sectors critical to future industrial expansion. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath honored established Japanese enterprises currently operating within Uttar Pradesh, followed by an immersive multimedia presentation highlighting the state's rapidly modernizing infrastructure. Core deliberations focused on scaling investments across green hydrogen, renewable energy, electric mobility, semiconductors, advanced materials, automotive components, and digital infrastructure. Union ministers including Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Ashwini Vaishnaw are also participating to align state-level execution with national manufacturing and infrastructural frameworks.
Virtual Groundbreaking and the Blueprint for a 500-Acre 'Japan City'
A defining highlight of the New Delhi meet is the virtual groundbreaking ceremony for major industrial projects spearheaded by global leaders like Escorts Kubota and Minda Corporation. Escorts Kubota’s upcoming ₹2,025 crore venture in YEIDA Sector 10 is projected to generate over 3,800 employment opportunities, while Minda Corporation’s twin projects represent a ₹1,166 crore investment expected to yield an additional 6,440 jobs. Furthermore, state officials unveiled an ambitious blueprint for a dedicated 500-acre Japan City within the YEIDA corridor. Designed as an integrated industrial enclave, the township will house Japanese enterprises and ancillary suppliers, facilitating seamless supply chain integration, advanced technology transfer, and robust employment generation as the five-day roadshow extends across New Delhi, Lucknow, Agra, Greater Noida, and Varanasi.
