CM Yogi Honors Rani Avanti Bai Lodhi on 196th Birth Anniversary, Highlights Women Empowerment in UP

In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid solemn floral tributes at the statue of the legendary freedom fighter Rani Avanti Bai Lodhi on the occasion of her 196th birth anniversary. Describing her as one of the most towering revolutionary figures of India's First War of Independence in 1857, the Chief Minister emphasized that her exceptional courage, tenacity, and supreme sacrifice at the young age of 27 continue to serve as a profound source of inspiration for generations of Indians.

Honoring 1857 Freedom Struggle Heroines

Reflecting on historical sacrifices, Chief Minister Yogi noted that Rani Avanti Bai Lodhi spared no effort in fighting British colonial rule, cementing her status as an enduring heroine of the freedom struggle. To ensure that her legacy and the ideals of other historic heroines permanently inspire the state, the Uttar Pradesh government has established new women Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) battalions named after iconic freedom fighters.

Key infrastructural tributes include:

• Badaun PAC Battalion: Named in honor of Rani Avanti Bai Lodhi, where the installation of her majestic equestrian statue is nearing completion.

• Lucknow PAC Battalion: Dedicated to the brave warrior Uda Devi Pasi, with construction progressing rapidly.

• Gorakhpur PAC Battalion: Named after Jhalkari Bai Kori, featuring advanced infrastructure and equestrian statue installations.

Advancing Women's Safety, Respect, and Empowerment

Addressing past concerns regarding public safety in Uttar Pradesh, the Chief Minister stated that the state government is resolutely committed to ensuring the safety, dignity, and self-reliance of women across every sector of society. Under the visionary guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, welfare programs and security frameworks have been radically expanded.

Highlighting landmark progress in law enforcement representation, CM Yogi shared that while the Uttar Pradesh Police Force included only 10,000 women personnel in 2017, targeted policies mandating 20 percent female recruitment have driven that number to over 45,000. Dignity and security for women are no longer mere slogans but active realities empowering citizens to contribute meaningfully toward a self-reliant and developed India.

Prominent dignitaries present at the tribute ceremony included Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Minister of State for Agriculture Baldev Singh Aulakh, Mayor Sushma Kharwal, MLAs Neeraj Bora and Jai Devi, and Legislative Council member Umesh Dwivedi, all of whom offered floral wreaths to honor the warrior queen.
