When is Durga Ashtami and Mahanavami? (Durga Ashtami 2025 And Mahanavami 2025 Shubh Muhurat)
According to the Hindu calendar, Durga Ashtami will be celebrated on September 30th. A havan (fire sacrifice) will be performed along with Kanya Pujan on this day. Mahanavami (Navami 2025 Date) will be celebrated on October 1st. Those who observe Navami can perform Kanya Pujan and havan on this day.
Hawan Rules
- Before performing havan, take bath and wear clean clothes.
- Clean the havan kund or altar and arrange the puja materials.
- Before starting the havan, take water, flowers and rice in your hand and take a pledge to perform the havan in front of Goddess Mother.
- Offer oblations with the Navarna mantra of Goddess Durga 'Om Ain Hreem Kleem Chamundayai Viche' or the mantras of Durga Saptashati.
- Offer the havan material (barley, sesame, rice, ghee, sugar, guggulu, etc.) to all the deities, Navagraha and finally to Maa Durga.
- Offering at least 108 oblations is considered most auspicious.
- At the end of the havan, wrap a coconut with a sacred thread, place a betel nut, a coin, and other materials inside, dip it in ghee, and offer it to the fire with mantras. This is called Purnahuti.
- After the havan, perform the aarti of Maa Durga and pray for forgiveness for any mistake made during the puja.
- After this, break the fast by worshipping the girl child.
