Difference between Jyotirlinga and Shivlinga 

Devotees install Shivling in temples and homes. Jyotirlinga is the place where Lord Shiva himself appeared in the form of light. Shivlinga means infinity, which has no end. 

Jyotirlinga is the luminous form of Lord Shiva. It is believed that the person who visits these 12 Jyotirlingas gets liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
