According to Puranic legends, long before they walked the earth as Devaki and Vasudeva, the divine couple existed in a previous era as a pious sage-like pair named Prishni and Sutapa. Exhibiting unwavering devotion and absolute spiritual discipline, they performed unimaginably rigorous austerities and intense penance for thousands of years to seek the vision of Lord Vishnu. Deeply moved by their steadfast dedication, steadfast love, and purity of purpose, Lord Vishnu finally manifested before them, granting them the liberty to ask for any boon their hearts desired. The Divine Boon: Three Sacred Births as Their Son
