News Topical, Digital Desk : Stock Market Holiday: Some investors may be confused about whether the Indian stock market will be open for trading today. It's worth noting that the stock markets will be closed on Thursday, October 2nd, due to the festivals of Dussehra and Gandhi Jayanti. There will be no trading or settlement in the stock, derivatives, and commodity segments on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE on Thursday. This trading week will be shortened due to the holidays. The stock market will now reopen directly on Friday, October 3rd.

Stock Market Holidays in October

There will be two more holidays in October: Diwali (the day of Lakshmi Puja) on October 21 and Diwali Balipratipada on October 22. The question now is, what time will Muhurat trading take place during these times?

Muhurat trading will be held on the NSE on Tuesday, October 21, to mark Diwali. The stock exchange stated in a circular that the trading session will be held between 1:45 pm and 2:45 pm. Last year, the Muhurat trading session was held between 6 pm and 7 pm.

Why is Muhurat Trading special?

Diwali marks the beginning of the Hindu calendar year. Trading during the Muhurat trading time is considered auspicious for investors. Investing in new stocks or adding to your portfolio during this time is considered profitable. Domestic stock markets trade on regular days, Monday through Friday, from 9:15 am to 3:30 pm. A pre-open session also occurs on regular trading days from 9:00 am to 9:15 am. The market is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. After October, there will be no trading on November 5th for Prakash Guruparva. The stock market will then be closed on December 25th for Christmas.
