Opposition has nothing more to say, this is what Suvendu Adhikari said after presentation of budget in Bengal
News Topical, Digital Desk : Kolkata: The state government has increased dearness allowance (DA) for employees of state government by 20 percent and totalDA has become 38 percent. This is to be effective from October 1.
BJP had assured of providing DA same as that of central government.
New Delhi: On Monday West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari praised the first budget presented by the BJP government as an attempt to reinstate the state's lost culture and dignity. While presenting the budget for the financial year 2026-27 in the assembly, Finance minister Swapan Dasgupta announced a net total allocation of 438,775.29 crore in the Assembly. He claimed this is the government's priority to create a fear-free environment for people in state and that's why in the budget there is special emphasis on security, culture, education and agriculture. Stress has also been given on the constitution strengthening, fighting syndicates and extortion, and creating conducive atmosphere for artisans and business.
Shubhendu Adhikari said that the five pillars of development -security, law and order, culture, education, agriculture etc. - are in focus.
"After presentation of budget by the Finance Minister, I don't think that opposition has anything else to say", he also said. Adhikari said that no sector has been ignored in this budget. 20 percent increase in DA for state employees with full support for them by Chief minister WB. “Our government will bridge the gap of 22% DA in some years. This time we are providing 20 % DA to the state employees.
Our government needs some time and I am sure about providing the Central Govt DA levels”, Bengal CM said. The state govt will also give 3000 to women under the scheme ‘Annapurna Yojana’ and a onetime amount of Rs 50,000 will be given to unmarried girls in their higher studies. "The state government will implement the scheme from the next month", said CM Adhikari.

From October 3000 will be given as salary to young graduates aged 21 to 45 years and 2000 to those young graduates between ages 21 to 60 years. According to a report by the Finance Ministry, the state will launch a scheme from October, wherein youth with a family income below 100,000 per annum and without being a recipient of any social security scheme will receive Rs 3,000 (below 45 yrs of age) and Rs 2,000 (all other) per month. In the budget 5000 per month has been provided to journalist aged more than 60 yrs. The budget also allocated a sum for strengthening both education and agriculture sectors, in addition to that an IIT and IIM in North Bengal have been approved with the help of the central government.
Infrastructure and culture related developments The state govt also approved for construction of new greenfield airport at Kalyani, near the eastern fringes of Kolkata.
He mentioned that increasing passenger footfall at Kolkata Airport requires development of second airport which can also boost regional economy. Around 1000-1,500 acres of land at Kalyani near the city could be used to construct the new airport. Apart from this, state has been looking forward to establishment of a museum in order to celebrate 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram.
The govt will also celebrate July 6, birthday of Jan Sangh supremo Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, as a state holiday. "This budget has been crafted after keeping every section of the state in consideration, be it the poor or the farmers", he stated.
