"If Ketan didn't like her ... Siya is fooling the police; her brother has spilled many secrets now during interrogation.

News Topical, Digital Desk : Sahil Goyal, brother of Siya Goyal, who is accused of killing real estate businessman Ketan Agarwal, 25, told police that if Siya had any problem then the family would have cancelled the wedding.

Officials said his statement came during a nearly 10-hour interrogation on Friday, a significant development in the probe. Sahil was summoned in the morning and sent home late in the evening after a lengthy interrogation, police said. He was asked about the relationship with his sister and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary and confirmed some details.

What did Sia’s brother, Sahil, say to police

“If Siya had said she didn’t like Ketan, we would have stopped the wedding,” Sahil told police. “We had called her in the morning for questioning,” said an officer of the Lonavala rural police station. She was sacked late in the evening.”

Police say Ketan Agarwal was pushed off a hill at Lohagarh Fort on June 18 by his fiancee Siya Goyal (20) and her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary (22). The two were believed to have plotted to kill Ketan as Siya did not want their November wedding to go ahead.

Lonavala Division DSP Gajanan Tonpe said the role of both the accused has been established. "Roles of both Siya and Chetan have been established in Ketan's alleged murder till now," Tonpe said. He said, “We will summon more relatives and friends for questioning.”

How many people did the police interview

As many as seven people have been questioned by the police so far, including an employee whose mobile phone was allegedly used by Chaudhary to call Sia on the day of the incident. Detectives now plan to reconstruct the crime scene using a dummy body to establish the sequence of events.

Sources said during Sahil's interrogation, several important details came out. His statement also suggests that Siya might not have discussed her concerns about marriage with her family.

The issue of the hair wig is also dismissed.

Meanwhile, Ketan’s father Vishal Agarwal refuted reports that his son’s use of a hair wig could have been a motive for the murder. Ketan had lost hair from a small part of his head for medical reasons, but this was clearly mentioned far before the marriage was finalized,” he said.

He went on, "If she had any problem, she could have simply said no. “If it was a problem for her, it would have been very easy for Sia to call off the wedding.”

What Devendra Fadnavis said

The case has drawn statewide attention. Pune: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met the victim's father in Pune and assured him full support. The state government has acceded to the family’s demand of fast track court hearing and appointed Ujjwal Nikam as special public prosecutor.

“This is a very shocking and unbelievable incident,” he said. As a society we need to question ourselves as to why such criminal thinking and feelings of revenge are born in educated young men and women from good families. This is not merely a criminal case. It has a social aspect as well.”
